The Syro code is our upgrade to legacy four-letter typing: a richer eight-function read, not the same system. The four-letter label appears in brackets for reference only, and a gender modulator (M/F) is coming soon.

Who INTPs are
INTPs live in the tower of their own mind, turning raw ideas into working things. Given enough quiet, they can understand nearly anything; the catch is remembering that the work is meant to be used in the world, not archived in it.
INTPs belong to the rational temperament: minds that trust logic over consensus and treat competence as the realest currency there is. Life, for this family, is a system to be understood and improved, and their self-respect is wired to mastery rather than approval, which makes them impressively immune to peer pressure and surprisingly vulnerable to their own impossible standards. What outsiders read as coldness is usually just focus economics: attention is expensive, and they spend it where they can be excellent.
At their best: Presence
At their best their attention is total, the person or problem in front of them gets a depth of focus almost nobody else can supply.
The shadow: Detachment
At their worst they decide something (or someone) is beneath engaging and go cold in a way that reads as contempt.
How their mind works
The cognitive stack, in practice
The INTP mind leads with Ti, the internal logic engine: an unending private audit of how things actually work, what follows from what, and where the accepted explanation is subtly wrong. INTPs do not adopt frameworks; they rebuild them from parts and keep what survives. This produces rare precision and real independence from received opinion. The bill is translation: most of the reasoning never gets externalized, so the world sees conclusions without the ladder, and INTPs are perpetually more rigorous than they appear.

How INTPs talk and listen
In conversation, INTPs are precision instruments: they say less than they think, choose words like components, and correct inaccuracies reflexively, including their own. Long silences mean processing, not absence. To be heard by a INTP, be exact and honest about uncertainty; to hear them properly, treat their corrections as engagement, because for this type, auditing your idea is a form of taking you seriously.
Precise, exploratory, and idea-driven. They think out loud by deconstructing.
Preferred Mode
Socratic dialogue. They learn and communicate by questioning assumptions.
Under Stress
INTPs become pedantic, overly technical, or withdraw entirely.
At Best
INTPs make the complex simple and help others see what they've been missing.

How INTPs love
INTPs date the way they think. The INTP mind leads with Ti, the internal logic engine: an unending private audit of how things actually work, what follows from what, and where the accepted explanation is subtly wrong. INTPs do not adopt frameworks; they rebuild them from parts and keep what survives. In romance that engine sets both the gift and the challenge: the gift is a partner who brings something most people simply cannot, and the challenge is remembering that a partner experiences the engine's exhaust, the missed dinner, the fifth new plan, the unreadable silence, without the internal context that makes it all coherent. The INTP who thrives in love is the one who narrates the engine a little.
INTPs attach through intellectual respect and shared frameworks. Emotional expression feels foreign, they show love through problem-solving and understanding.
How They Attach
INTPs attach through intellectual respect and shared frameworks. Emotional expression feels foreign, they show love through problem-solving and understanding.
Attachment Anxiety
Anxiety around social belonging, do people actually want me here? Fe-inferior makes group emotional dynamics feel like a minefield.
What They Need
A partner who doesn't require constant emotional performance. Someone who values their analytical depth and gives them space to process feelings at their own pace.
Growth Edge
Learning that expressing warmth directly (not just through helpfulness) creates the connection they actually crave.
What they need in a partner
The traits a partner actually needs for it to work with an INTP, beyond the surface checklist.

How INTPs work
At work, INTPs decide with Ti, the rigor engine: they need to understand the system before they will trust the task, and once they do, their solutions are unusually clean and durable. They are allergic to "because that is how we do it". Their best environments prize correctness over optics and give them uninterrupted depth time.
INTPs lead with Ti and support with Ne. Their decisions are shaped by this cognitive pair.
Fast Decisions
INTPs' Ti function can process quickly. They make snap decisions in their domain of strength.
Weak Spot
Decisions requiring their inferior function feel uncomfortable and take longer.
Best Practice
Pair with someone who leads with their auxiliary or inferior to cover blind spots.
Research Scientist
Pushes boundaries of knowledge through rigorous analysis and exploration.
Lead Engineer / Architect
Solves deep technical problems, designs systems, sets technical direction.
Quality Assurance
Catches errors through careful comparison against standards.
Data Analyst
Finds patterns in data, builds models, and translates numbers into decisions.
Leading and collaborating
How INTPs lead, who they build best with, and the working relationships that click.

The growth path
INTPs' primary growth edge is Fe (Extraverted Feeling), which means developing their capacity for reading and responding to the emotional state of a group, knowing what people need to feel, creating harmony, and expressing warmth outwardly. This is the area that feels most uncomfortable but holds the greatest transformation. Growth also means maturing their Child Si and recognizing their shadow patterns.
Develop Fe, Extraverted Feeling
This means growing their capacity for reading and responding to the emotional state of a group, knowing what people need to feel, creating harmony, and expressing warmth outwardly. When someone is good at this, it looks like: someone who makes others feel welcome, manages group dynamics intuitively, expresses care openly, and notices when someone in the room is uncomfortable. The goal isn't mastery, it's making Fe conscious and accessible so it doesn't hijack they under stress.
Mature Si, Introverted Sensing
INTPs' Child function is about learning from experience, building reliable routines, and honoring what has already proven to work. It brings creativity and spontaneity when healthy. Let it contribute without putting it in charge of important decisions.
Recognize Te, Their Shadow
INTPs' Nemesis is the shadow of their Hero. When they feel suddenly competitive or insecure about someone else's ability for organizing the external world, setting measurable goals, building systems, delegating, and making decisions based on objective data, that's Te activating. Name it to disarm it.
Soften Ni, Their Inner Judge
INTPs' Critic targets trusting their long-term vision, reading between the lines, and knowing where things are headed even when they can't fully explain why and turns it into self-punishment. It's trying to protect they, but the protection is disproportionate to the threat.
